What to Say at The Funeral Prayer of a Deceased Child
At the funeral prayer of a child,
one can pray for its parents:
/allaahumma-j’alhu lahumma faraTaa,
wa-j’alhu lahumaa salfaa,
wa-j’alhu lahumaa dukhraa,
wa-thaqqil bihi mawazeenahumaa, wa-afrigh
Sabran alaa qulubihimaa,
wa-laa taftinhumaa ba’dah,
wa-laa tahrimhumaa ajrah/
Translation
(O Allah! Make this child for its
parents a forerunner, a treasure and an admonition; make it weigh heavily in
their good deeds (on the Day of Judgment); grant them patience; do not put them
to trial after it, nor deprive them of reward (from You for its loss).
Should one say something in a funeral procession?
As the Righteous Salaf used to do,
the best thing one should do in a funeral procession is to walk silently. If he
does any thinking or remembrance, he should not raise his voice.
